HOLLYWOOD SOUL
I feel as humans, especially here growing up in LA county, we absorb things that subsequently stick with us leading to development of our reality, no matter how false or true it may be. Its hard not to get caught up in the false reality with Hollywood so close by.
That’s how I would describe my piece “Hollywood Soul” and what it means to me.
You can empower your self to change or choose to allow this world to get the best of you.
When I’m painting it helps me reach a state of serenity that is difficult to obtain, because tranquility is the polar opposite of the emotions you are experiencing when a car cuts you off on the 101 freeway.
GODFATHER
Banksy and his message completely changed my style of painting all together. I began doing stencil inspired art with powerful images. To me, these images were very identifiable in pop culture and gave a contrast to my style of art that other wise lacking.
Eventually I started to gravitate toward pop art, and more notable works of Roy Lichtenstein and his comic book like art. Some of my tribute paintings here to Roy and what he represented to the art world.
I started off painting musicians whose music had always inspired me, a lot of Jimi Hendrix & Bob Marley.
What my art means to me is expression, its all about expression. Whether if I’m making a stencil for my surfboard or cooking a meal, if it inspires you express then passion!
